One of the greatest attractions of the Balearic Islands are the spectacular daily sunsets. Whether its the intensity of the summer heat or the long days that appear to make the colours richer, watching the sun go down in the evening over the Mediterranean is a moment to be shared and savoured.

The simplicity of something that happens every day transforms into a movie scene in the surroundings of the coast of Menorca. Its the perfect opportunity to grab a bottle of chilled champagne, your camera and spend some quality time with you partner. Or with a group of friends or the family to take some fun photos against the backdrop of the sunset against the mountains of Mallorca.

On the entire western coast of Menorca the sunset can be clearly seen every day, creating a colourful show in the sky and the sea.

Over Menorca's North Coast

On the north of Ciutadella there is:
Punta Nati – where stands the north western lighthouse Far Nati and the remains of the look outs from war times
Pont d’en Gil – In the urbanization of Cales Piques, just a 5 minute walk along the coast from the road, or at any of the bars next to the Hotel Farragut at neighbouring Cala’n Forcat.

On the South of Ciutadella:
Castell de Sant Nicolau - From the top of the small castle at the mouth of the Port of Ciutadella you can see the sun set between the north coast of Menorca and Mallorca
Santandria & Cala Blanca - Simply drive or walk to the low cliffs on the coast to sit on the rocks or enjoy a drink on the terraces of any of the seafront bars.
Cala en Bosch - Another lighthouse Cap d’Artrutx provides an extra special scenery for a radiant sunset, where you can also enjoy a glass of sangria,  a cold beer or a special evening meal.

Due to Menorca’s postion you can enjoy the sunset from other more eastern parts of the island including the beaches of Binigaus, Son Bou or Binibeca (Binibequer). Or the famous Cova d’en Xoroi, Menorca’s club, in a cave on a cliff which is the the most stylish place on the island to see the sunset, on the terrace on the cliff face with chillout music or live performances.

For the highest view of the sunset, visit Monte Toro and see the colours change over the whole of the western side of the island.

The north and eastern side of Menorca provides different sunset over the island’s landscape, some great spots include

Magic Moments with Friends

La Mola -  Northern side of the Port of Mahon
Cap d’Favaritx – North eastern lighthouse
Torre de Fornells – Fornells Defense Tower
Cap de Cavalleria – Northern Lighthouse
Cala Morell - The tall cliffs either side of the cove, access north of Ciutadella

The ultimate place to see the sunset is on a boat in the middle of the sea, when the water is so calm it looks like glass. But seriously, don’t miss the Menorcan sunset and take the time to enjoy the serenity and be seduced by the show.
